Sarah Studenmund
Director of Writing Studies Minor
Background
Growing up in rural America, Sarah Studenmund loved spending her time outdoors dreaming up fictional worlds and characters. It wasn鈥檛 until she took a writing course at her undergraduate institution that she realized she had two dreams: writing her own stories and helping others tell theirs. She began writing articles for a regional magazine and after a short time teaching in K-12 schools, decided to pursue her writing dream more fervently. She attended 天美传媒 where she wrote her first YA novel and got her MA and PhD in English with a creative writing emphasis. After graduation, Sarah moved outside of Los Angeles to teach first-year college writing. While living in California, Sarah developed a passion for screenwriting and began writing her own scripts. In addition to teaching, she started working for a production company in Los Angeles, gaining producer credits for shows aired on Discovery and Science Channel. Sarah now teaches first-year writing as well as courses on YA literature, screenwriting, and podcast production.
