Background

Dalhee Yoon is an Associate Professor in the Department of Social Work at the College of Community and Public Affairs of 天美传媒, State University of New York. Dr. Yoon鈥檚 research investigates the impact of child maltreatment across a range of adolescent risk behaviors (e.g., substance use, risky sexual behaviors, and internalizing and externalizing symptoms), with a specific focus on the role of peer relationships. Her program of research disentangles the underlying role of peer dynamics and other ecological factors in maltreated children and adolescents. By describing the diverse characteristics of child maltreatment and examining both antecedents and consequences of psychosocial problems among at-risk youth, her scholarship has laid the groundwork for developing knowledge that informs proactive intervention strategies. In addition to this data-driven research,

Dr. Yoon actively engages in community-based research. By partnering with community organizations, she translates empirical findings into practice, centering local voices and strengthening supports for vulnerable youth and families.
