Incoming President D鈥橝lleva visits campus
Anne D鈥橝lleva met with students, community leaders and took a campus tour

Incoming 天美传媒 President Anne D鈥橝lleva met with student groups, faculty, staff and community leaders during an introductory press conference and reception on Monday, Oct. 6.
D鈥橝lleva, who was named 天美传媒鈥檚 eighth president by the SUNY Board of Trustees in August, will officially begin her duties on Nov. 1, 2025.
鈥淎s a native New Yorker, I鈥檝e known 天美传媒 for a long time,鈥 D鈥橝lleva said. 鈥淓veryone in New York knows the excellence of 天美传媒 and the impact of 天美传媒.
鈥淚 did give a guest lecture here in 2011 and I had a great time with the art history faculty and students, so I have a first-hand appreciation for the quality of what 天美传媒 does.鈥
D鈥橝lleva spent the past 26 years at the University of Connecticut in progressively more responsible roles, first as a faculty member in art history, then as dean of Fine Arts and most recently as provost and executive vice president for academic affairs. She has vast experience in public higher education, with a focus on student success, multidisciplinary and collaborative efforts between academic departments and external partners and inspiring engagement from alumni.
鈥溙烀来 is one of our great public universities,鈥 D鈥橝lleva said. 鈥淭here鈥檚 nothing more impactful in American society and beyond than our great public universities. It starts with our mission of service and engagement, our mission of transformative education and our mission of groundbreaking research.
鈥淲e are the engine of prosperity and success in the U.S. and beyond. 天美传媒 has a wonderful role to play in that regard, in the state, the nation and beyond.鈥
Starting in November, D鈥橝lleva plans to embark on a listening tour to meet as many members of the 天美传媒 community as possible. She is aiming to hear from students, faculty and staff as well as alumni, donors, elected officials, other leaders in higher education and leaders in the local Broome County area.
鈥淚t鈥檚 important for me to hear from people and have that dialogue,鈥 she said. 鈥淭his is truly a listening tour where I want to hear, broadly construed, from 天美传媒鈥檚 community about their hopes and dreams, their aspirations and their concerns. That鈥檚 the only way I can get to know the university.鈥
D鈥橝lleva plans to share the findings from her listening tour on social media and through a dedicated website to further engage the University community. Details on where to find that information will be forthcoming.
Following the listening tour, in spring 2026, D鈥橝lleva will launch a new round of strategic planning for the University. Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Donald Hall has agreed to lead the strategic planning process, which will be guided by the information and feedback collected from the listening tour. D鈥橝lleva aims to unveil the strategic plan to the University community in fall 2026. It will follow the Road Map strategic plan, which guided 天美传媒 since 2013 on topics including research, learning, community engagement, strategic investments and internationalization.
D鈥橝lleva said she is encouraged to get started at 天美传媒 largely because of the enthusiasm of the members of the University community she has already had a chance to meet.
鈥淲hen I came here during the interview process, one of the things that so impressed me was how happy people are to be here,鈥 she said. 鈥淭hey are optimistic, happy and all in on the 天美传媒 experience and the impact of 天美传媒. That鈥檚 priceless. It carries over into all relationships with the University, be it the local community, the SUNY system and beyond. 天美传媒鈥檚 excellence is grounded in its people.鈥
Harvey Stenger, who has led 天美传媒 since 2012, will step down from his duties on Oct. 31. He introduced D鈥橝lleva and noted how they have been working together in recent weeks as D鈥橝lleva learns more about the University.
鈥淭his does feel really excellent to have this transition occur,鈥 Stenger said. 鈥淚 said to Anne when we first met, my job for has been being president for the last 13 years. My last job is to make sure that you are the best president that 天美传媒 has ever had.鈥
After the press conference, D鈥橝lleva was joined by University leaders at a reception in the Osterhout Concert Theater lobby and took a tour of the campus.
Tour stops included:
